Research results in fertilization management in Cerrados of Piauí

On November 10th, the Embrapa Solos (Rio de Janeiro – RJ) had the visit of workers of polymers and bioprocess laboratories of UFBA and the engineer and polymerization laboratory of UFRJ. Topic: the research about polymers in fertilizer area. The use of fertilizer has been increasing 2% per year in the world, and the slow system of polymers release and controlled can contribute for the high efficiency of these nutrients.
“The fertilizer research network of Embrapa, the FertBrasil Network are closely monitoring partnership with UFBA and UFRJ, since they are strategic institutions in the efficiency increasing fertilizers line studies”, as shown by the researcher of Embrapa Solos, Paulo Cesar Teixeira. “We go though the separation and characterization of pork waste in polymers, into the organomineral line of fertilizers.” These wastes are already an environmental problem, which increase, since the meat industry is expanding from the South to the centre-west.
UFBA and UFRJ have suitable equipment in the frontline of the development, while the Embrapa has the agronomic know-how. “We may analyse the development of fertilizers since the beginning until the agronomic evaluation on field”, says Teixeira about the joint work. Considering that the partners have some polymers, which they have not been agronomically tested yet, they have been passed only through lab bench tests.
In Rio Verde (GO), The UFBA in partnership with the local university developed studies to take advantage of the waste of the part of the chicken’s bed for separation, in particularly, the waste, which remained inside of the polymers sieves that could be used in the own pelleting process. We also seek to optimize the pelleting processes – since that 95% of the fertilizer used in Brazil is pelleted – and even in the process of efficiency”, concluded by Paulo César.
